CTN is an association of companies established in 2003 with the aim to improve the competitiveness of the overall marine and maritime sector through the development of new technological solutions and technology transfer. CTN members are SME’s; large-scale companies, Universities and Research Centres of the marine and maritime sectors. CTN is also a member of different maritime organizations and co-founder of the Spanish Maritime Cluster. CTN encourages the integration of all the actors of the sector with the aim to improve the cooperation and collaboration among them, the search of new business opportunities, the preparation of new innovative solutions and the development of R&D projects. CTN has a wide experience in the development of R&D projects related to the improvement of shiprepair and shipbuilding processes at local, national and European levels. CTN main R&D activities have been related to the development of new technologies for coating, paint removal and surface treatments and ICT applications for data management. CTN has also experience in designing high performance electric boats. CTN is aware of environmental issues. It works in the development of green technologies for boats and collaborates with the Spanish authorities in the implementation of the MSFD. CTN has developed a passive acoustic sensor that can be used in different applications in underwater environment including signal processing in the maritime sector for different applications: D1 and D11 of the MSFD, aquaculture, etc. CTN also encourages the dialogue and communication among different social agents, institutions, official bodies and different administrations, as well as the promotion of the marine culture and traditions. Environmental impact of underwater noise : - Technologies for the implementation of the Marine Directive and in particular those related to Descriptor 11, underwater noise and other sources of energy. - Noise monitoring, forecasting and mitigation. - Development of new sensors and hydrophones. (FP7-Nexos project). - Forecasting based on propagation models. - Noise pollution mitigation. - Air bubble curtains. - Absorber lining. - Hydrophone calibration service with unique installations nationwide. - Hydroacoustic laboratory (LHA) with a truncated conical tank of 10 m depth and 20 m diameter and 2 georeferenced positioners. The Hydroacoustics Lab gives support to R&D projects and to the acoustic characterization of all kind of underwater equipment. The LHA offers services to characterize analogue and digital underwater electro-acoustic transducers, according to norm IEC60565, in frequencies that range from 3 kHz to 2 MHz as well as sonic frequencies using air acoustics equipment. Our team also carries out measurements of descriptive parameters of underwater acoustic absorption performance of different materials such as Echo reduction and Insertion Loss. 3. Sustainable aquaculture - Non invasive systems for monitoring stress of fish in marine cages. - Feeding Control Systems for aquaculture. - Fouling prevention in marine aquaculture cages. 4.
